Burlington is the most populous city in the state of Vermont. Although, it is the most populous city in Vermont it is actually the least populous city in the United States. It is home to approximately 42,000 residents and it is considered a college town. Burlington is also home to the University of Vermont. Interesting facts: As of 2015, Burlington became the first and only city in the United States that runs on renewable energy. In 1978, the ice cream empire of Ben & Jerry was created at a local Burlington renovated gas station. The city of Burlington has received a few accolades throughout the years.
