Albuquerque is one of the oldest inland communities in the nation and was founded in 1706. The city is also located in the heart of the Indian Pueblo country, which is the oldest farming civilization in North America. Albuquerque is in the center of New Mexico, which is why it is called the Land of Enchantment. The city is the hot air balloon capital of the world and is the site for international hot air balloon competitions each year, where more than 400 hot air balloons from across the world compete. If you’re a racing fan, you’ll be happy to know that Albuquerque is also home to several Indy 500 winners, including Al Unser and Bobby Al, Jr.
The city only gets about 15 inches of rain a year, compared to the national average of 36. It is sunny in the city about 280 days out of the year. However, the winters can be cold; the city usually gets around 27 inches of snow each year.
Arts and Culture

There are also fascinating science exhibits that are both fun and educational. Fascinated by Science? Then you must visit the Explora, a science center near Old Town that features hands-on exhibits. These exhibits teach children about motion and force, and there’s plenty of fun activities for adults as well.
