If you are looking for an electric nightlife, NYC is the place to be. It seems as though everywhere you turn your head, there are lines at nightclubs or jam-packed pubs that are impossible to get into. But some of the hottest places to be on any given night are the swanky NYC rooftop lounges scattered throughout the city. There are a lot more of them than most people realize, and if you ask your movers in New York City where to go, they can probably point you in the right direction.
Located in the Meatpacking District, this is the place to go to during the week. Of course, if you are someone extremely important or are prepared to flash your black card for bottle service and tip everyone in sight all night, then you can go on the weekends. Weekdays offer the same great view! Interestingly, Plunge is open 11am to 4am, so it is one of the latest lounges in the city, not including the after hours places.
This is a brand new lounge that just opened in April 2012. True to its name, it awards unparalleled views of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings. DJs and dancing are every night, and there is a huge after work crowd. Unlike many lounges where it is just uncool to show up before midnight, you can get here early.
Salon de Ning
Located in Midtown, Salon de Ning overlooks Fifth Avenue. The vibe is Shanghai in the 1930s, and they are known all over the city for their signature drink named the Ning Sling. This venue opened in 2008 and closes at 1am daily.
Pool Lounge at the Dream Downtown
The Chatwal family brought this luxury project to NYC in June 2012. There is a real sand beach, and the bottom of the pool is translucent, so it can be viewed by those in the lobby below.
Top of the Strand
Beautiful skyline views can be appreciated from this rooftop lounge. Prices are average and they reserve cabanas at a fairly reasonable price, for NYC. This is one of the few lounges with a retractable glass roof to protect patrons from the elements when needed.
Four at Yotel
This Japanese hotel offers a futuristic vibe and has the city’s largest outdoor space at a hotel, with a 400-person capacity. There are fire pits in the cabanas and plenty of lounge chairs scattered around.
This place stays packed and the door policy is lenient; meaning you can get away with being a little more casual. There is an abundance of seating available on wooden benches, and yellow and white canopies provide you with plenty of shade. This is another lounge open until 4am.
Every day except Wednesday, the Hudson Terrace is well-known for loud music and large crowds. However, on their “Wine Down Wednesdays,” six wines are presented from various vineyards for a more laid back atmosphere.
If you ask movers in New York City where the hottest rooftop lounges are they may also recommend The Brass Monkey, The Crow’s Nest, Ava Lounge, Bar 13, Berry Park, The Delancey, The Eagle, Empire Hotel Rooftop, Glass Bar at Hotel Indigo, Le Bain, Mad46 Rooftop Lounge, Night of Joy, The Press Lounge Sky Room, Vu Bar, A 60 Thompson Hotel, Upstairs at the Kimberly and Press Lounge.
